Designer Spotlight: Kim Kelly of Bella Rustica
Of late, it’s been hard to get my creative mind into action. Too much economics, statistics and number crunching of financial statements has taken its toll. And I’m afraid, it’s going to be this way until early December when I get done with my li’l over-ambitious project. However, a steady stream of posts from some of my favorite design bloggers has given this tired mind a much-needed break everyday.
An old issue of Better Homes and Gardens carried a picture of some rustic cushions designed by Kim Kelly. A federal agent by profession and a designer by choice, Kim’s creations caught my eye. What next? Google ki jai and I browsed endlessly through all her fabulous designs. As you probably know, I have a weakness for terracotta pots and cushion covers.
Wondering what I see in this plain looking cushion? I LOVED the simplicity, the earthen color and the words which mean “Life is beautiful”. Sometimes you get so tired of seeing so many bright colors around you. With festive season around the corner, the decor magazines are so full of fuchsia, turquoise, lime green and such vibrant colors - the tried and tested tricks that get repeated year after year. Why bring color to a room only through accessories like cushions and curtains?
Learning how to sew has been on the back of my mind for a while. Seeing Kim’s creations inspires me to spring into action. How about you?
